Finally saw...
Dec. 9th, 2002 09:47 pm"Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" tonight. Excellent flick. Some observations, mostly trivial:
- Emma Watson is going to stop traffic when she gets a little older.
- Loved the fact that they cast Mark Williams ("The Fast Show" ("Brilliant" in the US)) as Mr. Weasley.
- Colin Creevey was carrying around an Argus camera. Very cool. If they did what pics do in the HP movies, I'd get one of my own.
- Absolutely loved the flue powder transport effect, and Fawkes' "death" effect. Fawkes was also beautifully done after his rebirth.
- The franchise has its work cut out finding a successor for Richard Harris in the role of Dumbledore.
- How are they going to maintain the dedication to the books and pull off successful film versions with the next two books, since they're so much longer?
- Stayed for the "Easter Egg" after the credits. It was nothing big, but still a laugh.
semperfiona, I think I agree with your sentiment on it. :-)

Date: 2002-12-09 07:51 pm (UTC)a) I am now wondering whether the Brownie box camera I had when I was eight or ten was an Argus. For some reason the name rings a vague bell. It did not, however, look anything like Colin Creevey's. Wonder what became of it.
b) I wonder if the Argus camera was a sly pun on Argus Filch's name, or whether it was an accident. Filch's name, of course, is itself a pun; he's named after the same many-eyed mythological being as the cameras are.
How many times can I use "wonder" in the same comment?

A wonderfully large number, I would think...
