Between flights this evening, while in the Minneapolis airport, I was talking to [livejournal.com profile] semperfiona about this imponderable she posted earlier today. My comment was that I didn't recall seeing mulch around any of the gas stations in Indy. Maybe it was something peculiar to the St. Louis area? Well, as [livejournal.com profile] computerchix and I were heading home after she picked me up at the Indy airport, we stopped to get gas. I'm getting out of the car to pump the gas and she points over to the corner of the gas station lot and says, "Look - mulch!! We should call Fiona!" Sure enough, there was a large stack of bags of mulch for sale. So, what do I know? :-)

Is Speedway nationwide?

It's the Speedways that do that up here in Michigan. I would not be surprised to find out that their parent company also runs a timber business, and this is the way to get rid of the scrap from that line of business.

I don't know about them being nationwide, but Speedways are indeed here in Indy. However, this was at a Shell. :-)

Ah, well. It was a pretty hypothesis.
