I have a reputation for being quite the map geek. Some of you readers know this well. Some know it so well that I've been asked to render navigational aid twice in the last couple of weeks while I've been at home. [livejournal.com profile] computerchix knows exactly where to turn. From St. Louis a couple of weeks ago, and again tonight from Oakland, CA, I got a phone call from her, wanting me to help her find her way somewhere. Both times, I've been at home in Indy. Why call me? She knows I'll have the right map (not even resorting to going online for her to Mapquest or elsewhere) to get her where she needs to be.

Which of course raises the question of what sort of superhero costume Mapman would have...

[livejournal.com profile] joedecker has phoned me on his way somewhere to ask, "Will you be there when I approach that town in a half hour or so, to talk me to the right intersection?"

He just uses me.
