Well, I have numbers drawn up for the four characters I have to bring to the con, for whatever they're worth. I'm not totally confident I've made good decisions with them, being the first ADRPG characters I've created, but they're a start, I suppose. Now, I need to think more about the non-statistical characteristics, such as names, background info, physical descriptions, etc. I'm feeling more confident about the con overall, but I'm still wondering about these first character creations...

Don't worry too much about it. If you like the character, chances are you'll be fine. And if you do create a character who turns out to be a "miss" for the game, don't let it get you down. It happens. At my first con, I had one character who just didn't fit the game at all. It was just one of those things.

I admire the fact that you're braving the biggest con as your first. I started off at The Black Road (http://www.theblackroad.org), which I think is the smallest.
