The last contra of the evening was more than a bit dizzying:

- Wavy line of four in the center - balance the line.
- Allemande right your neighbor 3/4 to long lines.
- Balance the long lines.
- Swing your neighbor.
- Circle left 3/4.
- Swing your partner.
- Do Si Do your neighbor 1 1/2 to new wavy line of four in center.

The tempo was very fast, and at the point where one changes direction in the Do Si Do, I started getting nauseated.

I felt like that with several dances, the only time I've ever done contra. I wonder if I'd be better at contra after a bunch of aerobatics practice. (Body gradually becomes less susceptible to motion sickness.)

The last dance of the evening is not a good time to get people dizzy. I handle potential dizziness by looking at faces instead of walls. When I get a chance to stop moving, I focus on a far wall, tracking slowly up from the bottom. It helps if there is a stripe or vertical structure of some sort on the wall.

We each have our moments of mind-blank, and at the end of the evening sometimes it happens to everyone at the same time.

Some dances always spin the same way, and make me feel like a haggis: one leg feels longer than the other.*

* The legend of the haggis is that it is kind of like a sheep or a goat. It lives in the mountains of Scotland. The legs on one side of its body are longer than the other, because it is always on the side of the mountain. They say the way to capture a haggis is to make it turn around. Then the short side is on the outside, and it will fall off the mountain.

Technically, it wasn't the very last dance of the evening. I should have said it was the last one I did. There was one more contra, but I didn't get a partner, so, given how I was feeling, I left during it. I usually focus pretty well on the face of the dancer with whom I'm swinging, but this dance was just too much contant turning to the right...
