Watched the newest James Bond flick, Casino Royale with Daniel Craig, this afternoon.

While my favorite Bonds are still Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan, I like this reboot of the franchise very much. Still some cartoon physics (particularly in some of the jumping around in the early chase scene around the construction site), but that's to be expected in any Bond film, and it's definitely a grittier Bond (both character and film). Craig's portrayal was appropriate for an early James Bond, IMHO, and I can see how he develops some of his well-known traits early on as a double-o.

We watched it last night! WOW! I thought it was great. When we started, I was unsure if I would think Craig would be, um, suavely HOT enough. It turned out he was ;. I loved the grittiness of it, Judy Dench did her usual bang-up job and it was fun to see the beginings of the "Bond" stuff.

I still need to see that movie. However, everything I've heard about the construction site chase scene suggests the physics aren't so cartoon. Apparently serious practitioners of the physical art Parkour can do some unbelievable stuff in order to get from point A to point B. But I'm still waiting to see the film to judge for myself...and I can't until I get a new TV. No sense watching that movie on my tiny temporary 13 inch screen.

That would certainly make more sense than, say, the catching up to a diving plane by falling after it as in Goldeneye. :-)
