While doing what little I can to help [livejournal.com profile] computerchix feel better from her bronchitis, I finished Guns of Avalon, the second book of The Great Book of Amber this evening... finally. It isn't that long, and I don't think I read slowly! I just haven't taken the time to sit down and read for a while for the last couple of days, and I really want to get through those books - the story gets more intriguing with every chapter. I'll probably be up and at it for a while tonight, as I want to make significant headway into Sign of the Unicorn.

I had been waffling about making an LJ post about what books I read in 2002, and what books I want to read in 2003, but so far I've been more interested in taking the time to actually read them.

I think Sign of the Unicorn is my favorite of the series. I **LOVE LOVE LOVE** the library scene.

Not quite there yet, although it sounds like something to anticipate. After Corwin took the Jewel of Judgement through the Pattern I went to bed. I think I figured out why I'm reading it more slowly, too - I'm savoring. Not only am I enthralled with the plot, but Zelazny's writing style is just so cool in this. I have wondered, though, if my edition of The Great Book of Amber has some proofing errors. I've hit a few words here and there that just don't seem like what should be there.

Tonight, more Sign, after I inventory my photo equipment for my trip next weekend. I have to thank you immensely for corrupting me with Amber, BTW... ;-)

Riddled with them, sad to say. There is even a repeated paragraph in one place, where there ought to be a different paragraph that is entirely missing. But don't get me started on my proofreading/editing rant when I don't have time (gotta leave for work five minutes ago, but I wanted to at least stop in and reply to your comment. LJ was down last night, and then I was busy. I'll email you later with a time so that maybe you can call me.)

You are completely welcome. I sometimes call myself an Amber evangelist, though my number of successful conversions was low until recently.

Paul's going to restart the game soon, maybe even a totally *new* game with new characters, so if you're interested...

Um... very! :-) Hopefully, I have enough of a clue. Being just over 1/3 through the written story, especially after finishing Sign of the Unicorn (I totally agree with your sentiment over the library seen, by the way - simply mahvelous!!), I'm starting to feel like I actually know less about what is really going on, and nothing is certain. As each layer of what has happened/is happening is revealed, the new perspectives added (such as hearing Brand's point of view, finally) are starting to obfuscate it in my mind. This is, of course, also making it more difficult to put down. :-)
