Most people in the Midwest, when confronted by a pretty nasty thunderstorm, like the one that just started rumbling overhead here a few minutes ago, will stay sensibly indoors. If appropriate warnings are issued, they'll even go to the basement.

Me? (And Toni has witnessed and can verify this.) I go stand out on the porch (often wishing I had a better dry vantage point to place my tripod). :-)

Of course, some of it's either genetic or childhood environment: in May of 1974, my whole immediate family stood in my parents' front yard watching a tornado rip apart a neighborhood just to the northeast of us.

Wierdo!

We had to turn the lights off in bossman's office so we culd see anything outside the windows.
