Bizarre Bluegrass Band
Aug. 2nd, 2005 06:16 pmFlipping channels, I just stumbled across a performance of The Wright Sisters, a Greenfield, Indiana-based group of three young girls and their mother. Here's the bizarre thing: While mom was playing bass, sister #1 was wearing the banjo, plucking it with her right hand, but she was fretting the fiddle held by sister #2 with her left hand. Sister #2 was holding the fiddle under her chin, but she was fretting the banjo with her left hand and plucking sister #3's mandolin with her right hand. Sister #3 was bowing the fiddle with her right hand and fretting the mandolin with her left. Toward the end of the song, the three of them split apart to fret and play their own instruments, and it sounded like they didn't miss a note or beat.
Wow.
Wow.
