Went through another Basement Box tonight. This one had my original Kenner Star Wars TIE fighter & X-wing and several of the action figures. Those I'm keeping. That box also contained all of my notes from Physics 152, Math 172, and Math 272 at Purdue, Physics 251 at IUPUI, and other miscellaneous notes. Had I been home alone going through crap, I might still have kept those. Not that Toni says/said anything or even projects any sort of air of "you really should get rid of that", but when someone else is around I find it much easier to pitch stuff I don't need anymore. I took those classes from 1984 - 1986. I still have an updated Halliday & Resnick, so I figure I can part with my scrawled notes. I actually used to be able to print legibly back then. Wow. :-)

[livejournal.com profile] cjsmith indirectly reminded me earlier that I have some work on an old fictional story in a box down there somewhere. It's genesis was heavily influenced by the first two (by release date) Star Wars films, and more so, particularly visually in its infancy by Blade Runner and Alien (can't tell I like Ridley Scott, can you?), but it has a story of its own. I will be keeping that when I find it. May need to revisit it one of these years.

Short break, then another box.

The first two times I read that I saw "fighting the rat pack gene"

And of course, being too young to actually think of the real rat pack, I really saw "fighting the brat pack gene" and wondered what the hell this had to do with The Breakfast Club. :-)

"I'm in the math club, the Latin club and the physics club...physics club."

"What are you babbling about?"

I still have my basic college text books, even my old computer science books. I figure physics doesn't change much. And my physics book (in the bookcase behind me) is also Halliday and Resnik.

I had most of my textbooks in my core subject for my first degree in the boxes I've cleaned out. I've not referenced them in the *counts* 17 years since I graduated teh first time, so they're going bye-bye. Then again, they're accounting text books.

I think I still have the data communication book from my second BS that stated modems could never go faster than 9600 bps, too.

When I was packing to move last year I ran across my old physics notes and exams. I recognized the handwriting as mine, but the symbols made absolutely no sense what so ever. I chucked 'em.

See - it really is the estrogen that makes math and science hard!!
