A speculum pal?

A speculum pal?

Good grief.

Yes, and all the women reading the strip just crossed their legs and made uncomfortable faces.

When my doctor's office still used metal speculums, the assistant warmed them under hot water so they wouldn't be cold.

She got one too warm, once.

Once.

I'm glad they've switched to plastic.

That reminds me of the little "stirrup covers" that are at the gynecologist's office. They're kind of like little socks that fit on the stirrups your feet go in, usually distributed by some drug company so you see their name as you're hunkering down to get examin-ated.

I did always think those things were incredibly cheesy - not only are they logos, the ones at my office are usually terribly worn out cheap terrycloth :(

Along the same lines, check out [livejournal.com profile] misia's post about the ideal OB/Gyn practice. There are actually a lot of ideas there I could get behind (dr.'s office/spa combo!)

When we're running training sessions, we actually use oven mitts in my exam room. They fit just fine, and pad the metal bits better. They also look very, very silly, and invariably confuse the poor med students.

Do you use a variety of colors and patterns? That could really be fun!
