A fairly productive day...

computerchix on her way to Chicago first thing this morning. I hope she's having a wonderful time. Took care of some errands this morning (paid bills, ran to the Post Office, grabbed lunch, etc.). Turns out I have enough 35mm film for the upcoming trip, and I even have some 100-speed color transparency and color negative film in 120 left over from our Atlantic Canada vacation.
My friend M came over about 2, and we spent the rest of the day (except for a brief dinner break) working in the darkroom. I wanted to get my portfolio together for the seminar at Mono Lake next month. I had chosen most of the contents, but needed to make a couple of reprints due to my giving away a few of my better shots for holiday gifts this year. It took longer than it normally should have just to make reprints because we were using a different enlarger, which meant we had to re-figure the exposure and color filter data. For the final print of the evening, we had to give up, as my 11x14 drum has sprung a leak. Nothing like getting Ilford P30 developer, bleach, and fixer all over one's wet bench. Yeccchhh! So, I got a test print semi-done for the last print of the evening, but it will have to wait until we get the drum fixed. It turns out a small tab from the lid had come off - found it on the floor. Need some epoxy. M took the drum home to see if he has any...
I'm trying to decide if I want to try to get an 11x14 portfolio on the plane with me Thursday night to show off while we're in the SF Bay area next weekend. I could scan them in and post them, but our SCSI scanner is sooooooooooo slow. I'm going to start getting scans made when I get film developed from now on, since I hate taking the time I need to scan, but I'm still going to play in the darkroom for enlargements! :-)
Enough photography blathering. It was a good distraction after a rough last couple of days at work, having survived my 9th layoff in almost that many years, moving to boss #14 in that same timeframe, and having to do both my old and boss #13's jobs now. Time to catch up on e-mail and LJ, and probably hit the sack...
