A group of folks in my training class were bitching about all the "red light cameras in $town-in-which-I-live-and-work".

I did not even feel like informing them that there are no red light cameras in this town. Those cameras are too high and too low-res - they can only tell when there's the presence of a blob that requires changing the signal. If they wanted to see true red light cameras, they should visit the SF Bay area, or worse, Phoenix. Mounted lower with a nice big strobe light at which you can say "Cheese!" :-)

Throughout Scandinavia and Finland there are radar-activated cameras to catch speeders. They too have powerful flash capability. We asked someone who'd been caught this way once, and she said you better be able to drive with enormous spots in your eyes!

I've had to drive with spots in my eyes from other folks' light-running in Fremont.

(Also, doesn't Campbell have radar/camera speed traps?)

Could be. I know about the ones in Scandinavia, I don't know about Campbell. (Arguably I've done more driving in Scandinavia/Finland than in Campbell, the last four years. I don't usually head down that way.)

One of the great things about California is that a missing front license plate is only a fix-it ticket. :)
