Date: 2004-08-30 06:29 pm (UTC)The library pics look like the Harold Washington Library Center branch of the Chicago Public Library, which is also a good guess judging from the location of the other buildings. It's the big Loop library. Harold Washington was Chicago's first and thus far only Black mayor. He died in office in - I think - 1987 or 1988. Just a bit of city history if you're interested. You included details like that in the other descriptions, so maybe you already knew that.
Might I also suggest, next time you're here, that you take one of the architectural tours on the river? I mean, you do have to look out for the Dave Matthews Band bus (!!!) but it gives you a great view of some famous buildings, many from the Art Deco era. You'll also have a tour guide giving you tidbits about the history of the buildings. That is, if you've never taken it before... and I don't recognize any of those shots as ones taken from the river.

Date: 2004-08-30 06:43 pm (UTC)I did take one of the architectural river tours - one that leaves from North Pier. The docent was pretty good. She's working on her Ph.D. from IIT. The last five shots in this post were taken from that boat. :-)
Toni just told me about the Dave Matthews Band bus. Ew.

Date: 2004-08-30 06:57 pm (UTC)As for non-timed exhibit stuff I'd still like to do - I want to take my camera back up to the top of the Hancock after dark and remember my tripod. I like the view from Sears, but it's more expensive, and not as cool as the view along the lake from the Hancock. Still haven't been to the Museum of Contemporary Art. Want to eat a "real" Chicago pizza again sometime. I could go on... :-)
