A short work week, and yet...
Nov. 25th, 2002 08:37 amBleah. I'm only putting in 2 1/2 days this week, but I'm not looking forward to it. I have annual performance reviews to write for my six employees. Not that I don't think they deserve to be done, but it is one of the more difficult aspects of the job, IMHO, because it is so important that I get them right. In fact, I will be spending tomorrow at home, so I can get them done without distraction. Distraction from the office, that is. It will take more concentration to avoid LJ. :-)
In other news,
computerchix and I are heading to Denver for Thanksgiving. Yay! We're leaving Wednesday afternoon, as soon as I can get away from the office, and we're driving. Yes, it's a long drive, but we are breaking in the Baja, and I hate the thought of flying during this week. Plus, we get to stop in St. Louis Wednesday night for dinner to meet
semperfiona! :-D Sunday, we'll be hauling you-know-what to get home in one day. It's been done.
I've started contemplating going to an "English-American Dance and Music Weekend" in Urbana, Illinois, during mid-March of next year. There will be plenty of contra dancing, several workshops on various other traditional dance styles and music, and an "English Country Ball". Think of the exact dance styles from the A&E version of Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" or the film versions of "Sense and Sensibility", "Emma", etc. The only issue I have is dress for the ball... I need to start looking around for appropriate period costume.
britgeekgrrl, is this a period about which you have any experience/knowledge about formal costume? Granted, I'm looking for menswear (duh). :-)
