Fascinating.

As I was leaving to run a few errands earlier, I looked over into the park near our house. That park is primarily used for youth soccer. On one of the fields, a group of guys had set up wickets and had all the proper accouterments and were playing cricket. Never seen that in person. Never expected to see it in this country, much less down the street from our house.

I've run into cricket players in Indiana. They were usually on a university campus, taking advantage of a quad here or there. I saw it more than a few times on BSU's campus. I *think* it was all fun and games.

I would guess it would show up first at a university campus, but was very surpised to see it at my neighborhood soccer fields. I'm still perplexed by the rules a bit.

They had an Australian festival here in Nashville a few months ago and there was an exhibition cricket match going on. Very cool, but pretty difficult to follow, at least for this baseball/softball lover.

I've always been fascinated by cricket, but haven't taken the time to actually understand it completely the way I do baseball/softball.

One of my co-workers is from India and he's in a local cricket league. I actually went to watch one of his games for a couple of hours. He explained the rules to me, and I mostly understand. It helps to see them actually playing. Apparently there are several leagues in this area. And we used to see Haitians playing cricket in the parks in South Florida.

For that matter, when we worked at SportsLine, my boss told me that one of the biggest traffic generators they had was Crikinfo.com. But SportsLine was just hosting it and the owners took it somewhere else.
