Had an unexplained craving for Chicken Pad Thai, and not remembering anywhere else closer that has a good version thereof, drove over to Nothing But Noodles to get some from there. Which was okay, because it gave me a chance to check on the progress of one of the two new Chipotle restaurants being built on our side of Indy. The one on 96th still isn't close to opening, but it looks like the building is just about finished. I've been jonesing to go back to one ever since [livejournal.com profile] geekchick and C introduced me to the concept in Fairfax at the end of May and I then proceeded to discover they weren't in our area yet. Soon!

While sitting at the noodle place waiting for my order, I decided I truly am a product of the media I intake. Whenever I see the sign Maximum Occupancy: X somewhere, I can't help thinking of The Simpsons episode where Homer declares a holiday from work for the Feast of Maximum Occupancy because it's the first sign at Moe's he sees when he needs the excuse. That, then, usually makes me think of A Canticle for Leibowitz and the Fallout Shelter. My brain makes weird associations. Go figure.

Driving back home, I passed a store called LaCrosse and Sports. LaCrosse isn't a sport? *ducks*

My brain made that association too. "Radiation Fallout Shelter" - oh no! three nouns! :-)

I just recently reread both A Canticle for Leibowitz and Saint Leibowitz and the Wild Horse Woman.

I'm interested in the old Jew - strange character who live for centuries? Also, the town Sanly Bowitts - I'm always messing with words and how they change over time.

I have not yet read Saint Leibowitz and the Wild Horse Woman. I think the old Jew is just Miller's version of the Wandering Jew myth.

And the town Sanly Bowitts - very clever. I also, being an amateur language buff, like that sort of thing.

read your link - interesting stuff. Our old guy -Benjamin - doesn't turn out to be Jewish until the second novel (I think!) He's a very enigmatice character - if I were still in my paper writin' days, I could definately see one on him.
