Indiana highways and exit numbers
Nov. 16th, 2002 04:50 pmWhat is it with this state? Did they lay out the roads to do this on purpose? And am I just too geeky that I've noticed?
I've noticed a few of these occurences over the years, and last night I saw another one I had missed until then... It seems we have a lot of coincidental matching of highway numbers and interstate exit numbers. Indiana numbers interstate highway exits by mile-marker. The following exits are the coincidences I can recall:
I-65 exit #50: US-50 (near Seymour)
I-465 exit #37: IN-37 (& I-69, NE Indy)
I-465 exit #31: US-31 (Carmel/N Indy)
I-74 exit #25: IN-25 (W. of Crawfordsville)
I'd suspect there are more. I wonder how often they occur in other states...
