There is a huge chunk of y'all that I don't even have a clue about your first name. I don't know how old a lot of you are, or where you live, or basic normal things.

This is the problem with LJ, we all think we are so close, and we know nothing about each other.

So, I'm going to rectify it.

I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. I promise, I will not make fun of you.

Are you a teetotaler?

Not in the least. I don't drink much myself. I don't have anything against others drinking, but I do get oddly bothered if people about whom I care get drunk around me. Not always my business, and I'm more relieved if the situation is more safe, but there you go.

I think I just don't do it much myself because I am very influenced by taste, and a lot of alcoholic drinks (beer and drier wines in particular) just don't taste good to me. Some things I really like, like Bailey's, certain mixed drinks with rum or amaretto, etc. Also, I am very self-conscious about how much I'm drinking because I prefer to remain in control of my mental faculties. I can drum up enough weird schtuff in my brain without significant chemical aids.

There's no traumatic history in my family that has steered me that way, either - it's all me, I guess. :-)

Hmm, interesting. I haven't had that experience, as [livejournal.com profile] rfrench's total lifetime consumption of alcohol is probably less than one full drink.

Bailey's, certain mixed drinks with rum or amaretto

Idea: Buttery nipple = Bailey's and butterscotch schnapps. Frankly, I order that one for the name, but it does taste remarkably un-alcohol-ish.

I prefer to remain in control of my mental faculties.

[nod] Makes sense to me.

Thanks for the answer! Your answer to my question was much more thoughtful than my answer to yours. :-)

Mmmm... Buttery nipple. Sounds like my kind of drink, for multiple reasons. ;-)

You're welcome. :-)

all things being equal, if you could pick which sex to come back as in your next life, which would you choose, and why?

This may seem like a weird way to answer this, particularly given that I'm about as straight as het boys come, most ways. I've got so many more female friends and have always gotten along more easily with women that I've wondered what being one would be like, so I might try it for a life. :-)

Where were you born, and where did you grow up?

Um, hrm. :) Do you have any brothers or sisters, and if so, where do you fall in the birthorder? Any good stories about your family outside of [livejournal.com profile] computerchix and [livejournal.com profile] aliciar?

I have three siblings - one brother (49), two sisters (47 & 45). I'm 38. I was definitely an "accident". While I never took offense at the use of that term (I was rather spoiled by the parental units), I have grown distant from my siblings over the years. I never really had much childhood interaction with them anyway - I do know my sisters taught me to read and to write cursive well before I started school (even got in trouble for knowing the later in 1st grade), but I just don't feel like I fit in.
