Sometimes this half-horse city drives me bug-fsck. I wanted to try a high-end digital SLR for the boudoir shoot I've got coming up on May 22, but I'm not at all ready to spend the money on the one I am drooling over (the Canon EOS-1D, $7995 at B&H - I'm hoping it'll come way down when Canon releases the next high-end model). There are two, count 'em, two places around here that rent still camera equipment. One is a large trustworthy regional AV rental firm - all they have in that line are a couple of point-&-shoots. They recommended calling the other place, which is the local large professional camera shop. Unfortunately, I put them off my list some time ago upon catching them lying to customers. I checked with them anyway, and all they have are first-generation model digital SLRs. Our current point-n-shoot has a better CCD (not CMOS, no Camera RAW format, but not bad for inkjet photo paper prints up to 8x10 - it's 3.3Mp). I could rent from an online place, but the rates aren't worth the return for the shoot and I don't want to deal with shipping for a rental. Oh well. Plan A is still in place.

In other news, [livejournal.com profile] aliciar says I should copyright a term I coined the other day. We were talking about the "What kind of writer are you?" Quizilla meme, and I mentioned that I worry often when writing dialogue that I have George Lucas Dialogue Syndrome. ;-)

I like it. Connie Willis's comment on Lucas's dialogue was "Didn't he ever go out on dates?"
