Just got home a few minutes ago from a long evening working at the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation local chapter's annual fund-raising black tie gala/auction. They hired DKA Productions to set up a little portrait station and take digital pictures to be printed on the spot for the attendees to take home at the end of the evening. [livejournal.com profile] computerchix went with me to run the laptop and printer while I took the photos with the Olympus C-730. It's not a high-end digital camera by any stretch (3.2 Megapixels max), but with the HP Photosmart 7260 printer, it makes some damn sharp 4" x 6" prints. We got much busier than expected though, and with only one laptop and printer, we didn't get but about half way through printing all the pictures. I don't have the numbers in front of me, but I think I took around, if not just over, 100 shots and many folks ordered multiple copies. We'll have to finish printing them tomorrow and have the JDRF mail the rest out. Most people were accepting of that (I think more were actually surprised we were trying to make them available tonight). I'm just very glad Toni was able to work this event with me. Alone, I probably would have gone crazy and not gotten a third of the shots printed.

So you need multiple printers.

Sounds like a great evening!

That (and taking a second laptop for same) is already the strategy for next year. :-)
