I think I discovered the real problem behind our ISP issues yesterday. I just got this message when checking e-mail:

Task 'Sending and Receiving' reported error: 'Your incoming (POP3) e-mail server has reported an internal error. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP). The server responded: ??160101010000001080657614$2e8556$5f27$2egollum'
