After a couple of weeks of intensive self-training in Adobe After Effects, I've made a firm decision that I want to get my Adobe Certified Expert certification in that program. I'll finish the Meyer books' tutorials and a few others I have, get my demo reel cranked out, and probably take the test sometime later in the summer. I finally have some good ideas for my video demo reel, and I got permission from a Midwest-based contra dance band to use a piece of their music for the audio track (every other video demo reel I've seen lately seems to use a techno track - I want to be different, and the piece I'm using should still fit some of the effects and quick edits I have planned).

Taking out an ad for the photography side of DKA Productions on TheKnot.com to see if I can drum up some wedding business.

Decided I don't trust my own fundraising abilities at present to raise enough for the JDRF Death Valley bike ride in October again, not having daily contact with cow-orkers in an office, so I'm looking at other long bike rides I can train for. There is a road bike century ride in Moab, UT that looks cool, but it is the first weekend of October - I'll be finishing up my Grand Canyon photo seminar. There are a couple more in July in other places, but I don't know if I can train for a century in that short of a span of time given the rest of my life - I need the whole summer. I'll keep looking. One thing I'm going to put on my calendar now for this year is the Central Indiana Bicycling Association's Nite Ride. It's been one of those things I've wanted to do for a few years and keeps falling off my radar.

Today is errands, including the removal of the old recliner taking up most of the floor space in the home office.

One of these days I should pick up the fiction book I had started reading, East of Ealing by Robert Rankin. I'm about 2/3 through it. It's a great book so far - I've just been so caught up in trying to be productive. :-) It's making fun of computers and UPC codes as the mark of the beast and the coming of Armageddon. A typical Rankin silly romp...
