Go browse through my list of interests and pick one that either 1) you know nothing about but sounds intriguing, or 2) you know something about but can't fathom why I would be interested in it, and request an explanation.

Pretty much. :-) Snagged from Carrie Fisher's Postcards from the Edge.

"homewrecking sluts"? This sounds like either 1) a band I've never heard of, or 2) a home improvement show on BBC America (???)

Hmmm... how best to explain this one... It was an insult used to refer to one of my partners, and we've adopted it as a term of endearment, turning it on its head metaphorically. It's even our domain name for our personal web sites (not much there at the moment, though).

Amber Diceless Roleplaying Game. The cool diceless system used for roleplaying based on Roger Zelazny's Amber book series.

How dare you?! :-)

- DKA Productions - my company. *shameless plug*

- Heathers - The cult classic film with Winona Ryder & Christian Slater that deals with high school cliques, popularity, and teenage suicide. A must-see dark comedy.

Outside voices?

When I say something that, in "PC" or polite company perhaps wouldn't be appropriate, referring to something my inner voice should have kept there, I'll usually follow sarcastically with, "Oh, was that my outside voice?"

It's just a saying we've picked up from Stitch, from the movie Lilo and Stitch. Near the end, he's battling another alien who insults him, calling him something I can't remember, and as Stitch whacks him into the side of the ship, responds, "also cute and FLUFFY!"

Double dactyls?

Date: 2004-03-16 11:17 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] quasigeostrophy.livejournal.com
It's a poetry form. Some examples are at this link.

The rules:
- Eight lines
- Each line is two dactyls (DAH-da-da accents), except the fourth and eighth lines, which are one dactyl plus an extra strong beat (DAH-da-da-DA).
- The first line should be dactylic rhyming nonsense.
- The second line should be the name of a historical person (though I've seen this rule broken the most).
- The fifth, sixth, or seventh line should be a single double-dactylic (six syllables) word.
- The fourth and eighth lines must rhyme.

I find it to be extremely challenging, particularly in coming up with the hexasyllabic single word line.
