[livejournal.com profile] aliciar and I cracked up when we saw this the last time she was in town, but I still see it and laugh every time I go to put gas in the truck (the Sam's Club gas station is nearby). Advertising a Nextel shop in a little strip mall right below the sign, it starts out with Stop roaming. in very large letters, followed by, in type that gets progressively smaller:

Get serviced. Right here. Right now. In front of Menards.

Tell me that ad agency didn't know what they were doing.

Our local transit system has a new set of ads for their all-day passes. The one at my bus stop reads:

Dinner. Movie. Drugstore.

I've also seen:

Bachelor Party. Racetrack. Church.

They make me chuckle.

There's an east coast chain of roadside restaurant/gas stations called Stuckey's, and their signs say,"Eat at Stucky's. Get gas."

Road trips are always good for amusing signs. Here are three from my recent trip to Colorado.

Menlove Dodge in Salt Lake City, no less! Oh, those wacky Mormons!

Gay Johnson's A small chain of gas stations in western CO.

Kum 'n Go A small chain of "convenience" stores. (my favorite of the three)

I think I've seen those last two.

Now that everyone is posting their amusing road trip signs, the best two I ever saw (besides the Kum 'n' Go that Lori already posted) were: a sign advertising "flower bokays for sale"; and the sign on the old Music Row here in Nashville years ago in front of some cheeseball tourist museum and gift shop that said "See the car Hank died in." Karsten and I nearly peed ourselves laughing at the morbid absurdity of that one.

The "bokays" one reminds me of the guy down the street from where I grew up who worked on cars. Hand-painted sign in the front yard: "Free estiment." Whatever that is... :-)
