Our local Wally-World remodeled itself into the Super-sized version a few months ago. Toni and I had gotten away from going there since before the remodeling, due to the arrival of Le Super Target, Meijer, and so forth. I had occassion to go there this morning to pick something up for Toni. Those Super Wal-Marts appear even more huge at 6:45am, when they are practially empty. Sheesh!

And you can say what you want about how they move into small towns and destroy local businesses, etc., but I do appreciate their price on generic OTC medications.

That's getting ready to happen in our small town...with the additional loss of our little mall. We've already lost a lot of the stores in the mall and the deal isn't even done...

We also have only one large grocery store in our area, so likely they will be negatively affected as well.

I have to admit to a lot of concern here.

in new castle, downtown was killed by the arrival of KMart and Murphy's. Walmart moved in after those two went bust (along with Hills and Ames). The downtown was struggling long before Walmart came--now there are jobs where there were none (the auto plants scaled back dramatically in the late 80s).

i go to walmart for generic OTC meds, too.
