Movies, movies, movies
Feb. 1st, 2004 10:29 amYesterday was a relaxing day. I sat around reading some of Jasper Fforde's The Well of Lost Plots (which, so far, is quite good), and we had mostly eye candy on the DVD player all day:
- Futurama Season 2 - Pity this series was cancelled. To me, it was as funny, and often more story-driven than The Simpsons, but Fox kept moving it around.
- Practical Magic - Sigh. Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman. While SB's acting is nowhere near that of NK's, both, to me, are fine to look at on screen, especially NK with that red hair. And the movie was a cute if simple story.
- Drop Dead Gorgeous - This movie says so much in caricature, and is absolutely hilarious. I love the way it's told from a documentary point of view.
- Soapdish - Another caricature, and quite funny. And Elisabeth Shue... *whimper*
- The Thomas Crown Affair - I absolutely adore this story - the whole cat and mouse game between Brosnan's character and Russo's, and the way things wrap up are all fantastic. Then there are Russo's outfits (or lack thereof), and I like how the director put some silliness into the sex scene. Seemed more real that way to me.

Date: 2004-02-01 11:05 am (UTC)"The Thomas Crown Affair" was just classy, IMHO - not often you see a popular film about something like art, even if it's in the context of an art robbery. I thought the characters and story were great as well.

I'm a blondiehead that likes brunette gals, I guess.
I adored Soapdish, found Pratical Magic okay ... but I haven't seen The Thomas Crown Affair. Hrm. Guess I'll have to check it out.
