*blisses out in the blues*

Mmm. And the texture...it looks a lot softer and furrier than it probably feels!

Soft-focus helps. :-)

Excellent! I'm glad this one is functional. How do you rate the reproduction offhand - do you think you'll be doing a lot of tweaking?

I may have to tweak colors more - this original slide is definitely blue, but I'm not sure it's as blue as this scan. I think other tweaking (dust, etc.) is going to depend on how much care I've taken with the film. Before this slide, I tried scanning in a 15-year old color negative at the highest resolution (4032x2688) and it looked quite nasty with dust and scratches. That sort of thing will test my meddle with PhotoShop. As for colors, the scanner has some apparently nice utilities in its software that I need to read up on some more. Need to run a couple more tests with regard to sharpness. This example is a soft-focus shot to begin with and thus not too good at revealing limitations there.

Canned Air Is Our Friend :).

You should pick [livejournal.com profile] jodecker's brain. He has huge amounts of experience with scanning and tweaking and setting up monitors and all that stuff.

I've found that my Polaroid film scanner tends to default to the cool side of the spectrum.
