Fun day... so far...
Oct. 5th, 2002 05:47 pm[Bad username or site: computerchix and I got up early and headed up to the UCB Map Sale. It was really nice meeting <lj user=britgeekgrrl @ livejournal.com],
dancingshaman (hope my forward self-introduction in the crowd wasn't startling :-)), and
moonlightgdess in person, and seeing
mactavish again, although the crowds and organization (or lack thereof) plan at the sale really stank. Could have spent more money, but have to contend with getting anything I buy out here back to Indy somehow. Couldn't pass up the Soviet-era USSR atlas, in Russian, from the CCCP, though.
britgeekgrrl,
dancingshaman, and
moonlightgdess had to take off after lunch, so
mactavish,
computerchix and I did a brief tour of the UCB campus. The Campanile was closed (is this going to supplant my now-broken lighthouse curse?).
mactavish took off after a while, leaving just the two of us to wander some of the Telegraph Ave. bookstores. We thought we'd check out the Tilden Park Steam Trains, but there was another crazy crowd, so we saved them for another day. The view from the park roads was very cool, though - hadn't seen the bay from that vantage point before. Picked out lots of waiting cargo ships through the haze.
Back to the south bay... time to figure out where to go for dinner...
