Apparently the Nappanee, IN tornado of Thursday night was ~1/2 mile wide, was down for ~20 miles, and was an EF3 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale (winds 136-165 mph).

I don't know that I'd want to set mine to wake me up for severe storms. I'd never get any sleep during late summer and early fall anymore if I did that.

I know tornadoes can hit anywhere, but the lake effect used to kill almost all of them, and now we've had two years in a row when we've had more than one tornado here. There were funnel clouds over Oak Park not too long ago, but they never touched down.
