Got Home...
Jan. 26th, 2003 06:25 pm275 miles is not a bad drive at all, with my wife on one end and my otherlove on the other. It was a very great weekend...
Friday night involved a most excellent dinner at Brazie's - I had a lovely salmon pasta dish which I could not finish. I swear, the plate was bottomless! Dessert consisted of chocolate-covered strawberries with Amaretto and whipped cream. *sigh*
On Saturday morning, we drove up to Clarksville, MO, to check out Eagle Days. I think we saw fifteen Bald Eagles together at one time, flying around the Mississippi River and surrounding bluffs. Some even appeared to be hunting for lunch while we were there, although I don't think one made a successful catch in our sight. I did conclude one thing: I don't own a long enough lens (300mm is my max for the 35mm camera) for good wildlife photography. However, just seeing those eagles was well worth the trip, and fortunately the weather was warmer than it had been the past few days.
Next, we went to The Book House, where I picked up parts two and ten of Neil Gaiman's Sandman graphic novel series, a couple of the original paperback editions of the Amber books, and a copy of Guy Gavriel Kay's The Summer Tree, another attempt at corruption by
semperfiona. :-)
We also hit a nice little Mexican place (I forget the name) for lunch, and The Fantasy Shop to look for a copy of the Amber Diceless RPG. No dice - out of stock.
Dinner was a great spinach feta pizza, lovingly prepared by
semperfiona, and we also started on the aforementioned homemade Sharffen Berger chocolate ice cream, which wasn't actually ready until this morning. I showed off some of my Mono Lake slides, and we watched "Heathers" on DVD - I don't think I could ever get tired of that movie.
It was a very blissful weekend. I am very happy about a great number of things. *Squee!!!*
I headed back to Indy late this morning, just in time to pick up
computerchix at the airport (yay!!), returning from her weekend in Detroit. I'm going to catch up on e-mail and LJ, and generally take it easy this evening, as I feel like I may be coming down with a cold.
