The second ingredient in my 24-ounce tub of dried cranberries that I got at Meijer the other day (right after cranberries) is sugar. I can deal with that. The other ingredient, however, is sunflower oil. An oil? With berries? I can't taste it. Is it just to help minimize clumping?

Ask [livejournal.com profile] ljgenie?

I'm astounded at how much fat is in banana chips.

I'd forgotten about that group. Thanks!

From the nutrition info panel, it doesn't seem to add any measurable fat to the cranberries, which is why I suspect its true purpose, but am not sure.

My best guess is that it keeps the cranberries softer, but understand I'm pulling that right out...of the air :P.

Hey, it beats where I'd have to pull it from. ;-)
