I want to go back in time and smack the person who invented the adhesive, or at least the employee at Lazarus who put the tags on each of the individual pieces of china computerchix got from her parents for her birthday. It should not take an hour to wash 13 pieces, but getting those price tags off... ugh!

Okay, I'll get over it now. Can you tell dishes are not my favorite chore (of course, to whom would they be?)?

Time to get dressed and start digging around the home office for computerchix's old Palm Pilot, so I can give it to the guy I sold it to...

Try nail polish remover on the tags, if it's not especially fine china. We use that to remove labels from all kinds of glassware at work.

Thanks! I don't know how "fine" Noritake "Sweet Leilani" (the pattern) is, but I tried something called "Goo Gone" and some citrus-based "De-Solve It" spray. The latter worked pretty well, but still...

Where Goo Gone doesn't work, rubbing alcohol usually will. Just for future reference. As for nail polish remover, Noritake is pretty fine china, but the glaze is baked on, and should be able to withstand a short exposure to that particular solvent. But I would test in on a small spot first, to make sure.

i use a little dab of oil, let it sit for a minute or two (or five), then slide the tag off. this usually works well.

sometimes citrus oil sprays work, but it's the *oil* in the spray that does the trick. if the spray doesn't have much oil, it will take longer to work.
