Yeah, and I think the Matt Lauer interview I just saw on Today just added to it. When asked if they'd be sticking together for another four years and coming to Beijing, Walsh leaned on May's shoulder rather lovingly, put her hands on her thigh and sheepishly said "I hope so".
Seems pretty apparent... even the TV interviews show them often holding hands. I note that the sports narrators refer to them as "partners" (with an ever-so-slight hesitation, for emphasis ;) rather than "teammates"...
My read is that the media are aware of a overt relationship there, but for the sake of publicity and TV ratings are choosing to softpedal it.
...although they seem to say "partner" for other two-person teams in the olympics, including Metzger and partner, too. But,... ya never know. Worst case scenario, ya gotchyer first rate volleyball slash fiction material, here. ;-)
