trying to stay awake...
Nov. 13th, 2002 09:20 amLesson 1: Going to contra dance on Tuesday nights is incompatible with going to the "Y" on Wednesday mornings. I didn't even hang out for too long with "the gang" from the dance at the Old Point Tavern last night, but an 11:30 PM bed time followed by a 5:20 AM alarm just doesn't work for me. I'll count the aerobics of contra in place of doing something aerobic on Wednesday mornings at the "Y". Need caffeine... now...
Contra dance was fun last night. After missing several (six?) weeks, I felt I hadn't forgotten anything, and am starting not to feel like a newbie anymore. I was helping several newbies last night (and even one of my friends who has gone regularly for years at one point in the first dance). One dance got me very dizzy: a very fast tempo with a routine (if I can recall most of it) that consisted of a circle left 4 places, swing your opposite, guys allemand right, swing your partner, sashay to the new 4-some. Almost continual spinning. Sheesh...
At least I can say with confidence I'm up for my first "out of town" contra dance. Meeting
medusas_secret in Urbana Friday night for a dance there. I'm really looking forward to it!!!
