quasigeostrophy: (my-road-bike)
With my usual trepidation, especially following a heck of a day getting home from California, I went out on the last of my local group training bicycle rides this morning. Last one before the 105-mile ride in Death Valley on 10/26, that is. Today we had to ride 75 miles. It was cold, drizzly, and traffic was heavy on several parts of the route (I wanted to smack the "coach" for setting this route). But, I did it in 5 1/2 hours. According to this same "coach", if I can still walk tomorrow, I should have no problem getting through the 105 miles in Death Valley (of course, it will be dry and hot, but with no traffic other than 300 other riders).

Cleaned up, went to dinner with [livejournal.com profile] computerchix, and came home to catch up on LJ (among other things). [livejournal.com profile] computerchix and I were going to run our usual errands (grocery, post office, etc.), but we had to cut the trip short. She came down with a dire urge to get ill. I hope this isn't a continuation or the beginning of a recurrence of her migraine from yesterday.

Still haven't completely unpacked, gone through two weeks worth of mail, or all sorts of other things I should be doing...

Heard about this yesterday morning on KTVU before checking out of my hotel. Why do I find this moderately amusing?
