These are the prints I am going to enter in the Indiana State Fair this year. Since I don't believe any of y'all are judges, have a look...

These are all low-res scans from 35mm.

are you selling prints?

Are you kidding? I am indeed!! What size would you like? From 35mm, it's probably good up to 11x14 or maybe 16x20. Framed or matted? :-)

Thanks for all the compliments!

Oh, good, you're actually going to motivate me to start coming up with pricing. :-) I'll work on it and e-mail you with info in the next couple of days, 'k?

Oooh... pretty moonrise!

Lovely pictures! I especially like the moonrise. I would also be interested in a copy, when you get your prices figured out. One wall of my living room is purple and I have blue accents everywhere, many of which are sun and moon type things. This would look great on my purple wall. :)

btw, just out of curiosity... what's the deal with Mono lake? That shot looks like a couple of Joedecker's pictures of the same location. Is there some significance to that?

Oh, wow, I concur. All of them are great, but the last photograph is gorgeous.

Agreeing with everyone else... they're wonderful. That last picture is AMAZING. What luck you have, to have had the opportunity to see something so beautiful... AND get an amazing photo!

I'll send you pricing as well. :-)

The fact that Joe has similar shots is no coincidence - we were both at the same "Winter Photography in the Mono Basin" seminar in mid-January this year. This was the first evening/first shooting session. We were freezing, tromping around in the snow along the western shore of the lake at the "Old Marina", and the moon and lighting just cooperated. Probably would never be able to duplicate those conditions to get that shot for many years...

I'd always had a curiosity to visit Mono Lake, and Joe actually introduced me to this seminar. The formations around the lake, the lighting, and the "pogonip" (ice fog) all provide wonderful photographic opportunities. I have 12 rolls of slides from that trip and am still having a hard time culling out "bad" ones.

It was indeed a combination of fortunate circumstances. The sunset behind providing the last bit of light and the position of the moon were only just like that for a very brief time.

Wowsers. That shot of Rosa is stunning.

I was wondering if you would be interested or available to do a portrait of Kevin at some point. We've not done any formal pictures because we can't stand the Sears/Picture Place/JcPenneys kind of stuff.

BTW, my mom and sister are likely not to be here on July 3rd. Still might have a second baby in tow, but that's much better. :-)

Thanks. :-) It was one of those photographic "decisive moments". She was pretty animated that day, and I was lucky to get that shot that close.

I'd love to!! We can figure out how/when/where/etc. via e-mail.

No problem. Looking forward to meeting you!

The moonrise shot is amazing. Did you do anything to the color on that, or did it really look that saturated? (I'm bad about photography. I probably would have stood there staring and forgotten that I had a camera.)

And that's a great picture of [livejournal.com profile] semperfiona.

I did nothing to treat the color on the moonrise shot. The film is Fujichrome Provia 100, which does some saturation, but doesn't exaggerate quite like their Velvia 50. It was actually pretty close to that. If I did anything to help the color in this case, it would be that I slightly underexposed the shot.

I probably would have stood there staring and forgotten that I had a camera.

Well, given that we were there for a photography seminar, and standing and staring for too long would have caused frost bite... ;-)

And that's a great picture of [livejournal.com profile] semperfiona.

Thanks. I work with good subjects. :-)

Well, I can certainly see why they would have seminars there, with such an excellent subject to photograph. Thanks for the info on that. :)
